Karen’s Journey
I initially came to yoga for relief from sports injuries and back pain. I had learned to meditate as a teenager but was initially not consistent. I was also more drawn to quick action sports like running, tennis and aerobics and found my first yoga class a real challenge. I stuck with it and quickly discovered the transformative healing powers that yoga had to offer. I continued my studies in meditation and have stayed consistent in my practice as well. I began my journey of further learning and sharing the gifts of the practice. I traveled the country and trained with some of the top yoga masters in the world in the Iyengar, Ashtanga, Anusara and Vinyasa traditions as well as meditation and philosophy scholars, accumulating over 2000 hours of trainings. I was certified in Vinyasa and Anusara Yoga and became an E-RYT 500 Certified Yoga Instructor. I have been teaching yoga for over two decades and still continue to be a student of anatomy and physiology, therapeutics, philosophy, meditation, Functional Medicine , Ayurveda and natural health.
I am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) a Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach and Certified Ayurveda Wellness Counselor. I fully believe that healing comes from within, incorporating all of the limbs of yoga and holistic health. Our bodies have an innate ability to heal and we just need the guidance. I truly enjoy sharing the gifts of yoga, mediation and health coaching to guide my students to feel their optimal best.
I teach all levels of classes, private yoga, workshops, retreats and lead teacher trainings. I incorporate therapeutic tools to help my students recognize repetitive actions that are causing consistent and chronic pain. My private sessions offer an opportunity to create a healthy body and quiet mind with yoga, meditation, breath techniques and Ayurveda lifestyle changes. My public classes are a fusion of all of my trainings with a focus on creative and empowering sequencing, alignment and breath awareness to help my students gain more strength, flexibility and balance in the body and more serenity and freedom in the heart and mind. As a Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach, I enjoy working one on one to help my clients create positive lifestyle changes, reclaim their health, and live a life of greater joy and less stress.
